About Us
AK Advocates is Alaska-based and provides support to individuals and organizations interested in participating in the public process to communicate to policymakers and their communities their experiences and recommendations for solutions.
Teri Tibbett coordinates AK Advocates, with over 30 years experience in public advocacy. For ten years she served as a legislative aide with the Alaska State Legislature and 14 years coordinating the joint advocacy effort for the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority and partner advisory boards. Teri has coordinated legislative fly-ins, State Capitol visit planning, bill and budget tracking, receptions and Lunch & Learns, policy summits, and grassroots advocacy for organizations and individuals with lived experience of behavioral health disorders, intellectual-developmental disabilities, prenatal alcohol exposure, brain injury, dementia, criminal justice involvement, and more.
Collaborations have included the Alaska Prenatal Alcohol Partnership, Alaska Reentry Partnership, Alaska Mental Health Board, Advisory Board on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education, Alaska Commission on Aging, and other behavioral health and disability organizations.
